OBITUARY ANN OGLE NEILSON Daughter of Benjamin Ogle & Anna Maria Cooke Ogle Widow of Robert Neilson b. June 18, 1803 and d. July 7, 1820 Died at Mt. Airy, Virginia, the seat of Wm. H. Tayloe, Esq., on Thursday, the 7th instant, Ann O. Neilson, third daughter of Benjamin Ogle Esq., late of this county, and relict of Robert Neilson, late of Baltimore City. She had left that city early in May last, accompanied by her only child, a daughter, to spend the summer months among her relations and friends in Virginia; who there, as every where else, esteemed a delightful privilege to have in their social circle this cheerful companion, this happy Christian, this intelligent, refined and accomplished lady. In her usual good health and buoyancy of spirit, she had been there more than two months, making her friends happy by the charm of her kindly heart, her sweet manners, her animated, fluent and instructive conversation. To make others happy in every way she could, had indeed been, through three more than twenty years of my acquaintance, a marked feature in her lovely character. That noble monument of charity, "The Church Home". in the City of Baltimore, will, I trust, be thro' the ages to come, a witness for her that she "remembered the poor". In cooperation with other kindred spirits, she nursed it into life, and they were "The right arm of the Board of Managers, in raising the funds for the building," and in placing the Institution on its present high elevation, as one of the greatest charities in the Episcopal Church, to which she was devotedly attached, and of which she was one of the brightest members. The high appreciation of her character and services by the Female Association connected with that corporation, composed of ladies of the first standing in this city, is seen in her election in one of the most responsible offices, which from the organization of the society she filed to the day of her death; and no where more than there, among the members of that association embracing so much of female worth and intelligence, will her death cause a sensation, and be felt and deplored as a loss - Yes, there is one heart that must feel as no other may - her's on whom the enlightened training of this fond Christian mother had been bestowed. And as a reward for her nursing care, this mother had bee spared to see upon her daughter the opening blushes of womanhood; and still better, to witness the first fruits of her faithful Christian training. She had been made to rejoice in God her Savior, as she beheld the hands of one of His chief shepherds laid in blessings on her daughter's head and they had both knelt, side by side, at the Table of the Lord - Thus had the Lord rewarded her while living, and he did not forsake His faithful one when dying. She met her last enemy in the calm assurance of victory, Around her couch were watching dear friends on Earth, and ministering spirits from Heaven. When near her end, her fine mind still clear and unclouded, she calmly asked. "How Long." These were her last words, and catching from a brother's faltering tongue, "You will soon be where there is no more pain," she closed her eyes, and folding her arms across her breast, her lips gave signs that, like the dying Stephen, she was commending her spirit to God in prayer. Obituary Benjamin Ogle II of Belair Son of Gov. Benjamin Ogle I & Henrietta Margaret Hill Ogle Husband of Anna Maria Cooke Ogle On the 4th day of April 1844, Benjamin Ogle II died "at his residence after a few days' illness." the Obituary in the National Intelligencer expressed the highest admiration; To say he was beloved by all who knew him is not the language of ordinary eulogy. Having had the advantages of education in England, with an unusually retenative memory, his mind was stored with information and anecdote that he was ever ready to impart, which made him the delight of society, both of the old and of the young. With a taste for field sports, he prosecuted them with ardor almost to the last year of his life. For nearly fifty years he resided upon his patrimonial estate, in the constant exercise of kind and good actions. His life was an example of virtue worthy of imitation. He died without reproach. He was an affectionate and devoted husband and parent, a kind and indulgent master, a sincere friend, a true patriot, and an unassuming Christian.

Virginia Gazette May 22, 1752 on the Death of Gov. Samuel Ogle
ANNAPOLIS , in Maryland, May 7
Last
Sunday Morning, at Four O'Clock, died, in the 58th Year of his Age, his
Excellency Samuel Ogle, Esq., late Governor of this Province. His great
Constancy and Firmness in a tedious and painful Illness, and Resignation to
the divine Will, were suitable to a Life exercised in every laudable Pursuit:
His long Residence among us made him thoroughly acquainted with out
Constitution and Interests, and his Benevolent Disposition induced him
invariably to exert all the Influence his Station, as Governor, gave him, and
every Means, which his own good Sense could suggest, to promote the Public
Good. He was a Pattern of Sobriety and Regularity; a sincere Lover of Truth
and Justice; and a most religious Observer of his Word. His example
introduced and established a Habit of Sobriety and Civility among us. That he
was a Man of fine Parts and Understanding, and that his Administration was
just, mild, and equitable, his Enemies (if such a Man could have any) dare not
deny. In private Life he was an amiable Companion; in his Conversation,
affable, cheerful, and instructive, but never assuming; and his Friendship
warm and sincere. He was one of the best of Husbands, Fathers, Neighbours,
and Masters. In a Word, his Death is universally and justly lamented, as one
of the greatest Misfortunes which could have happened to us; and his Memory
must always be rever'd by every true Friend of Maryland.
Note: His remains are interred at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Annapolis, Maryland. The present Church on this site is the third one built in 1858. Samuel Ogle was buried in the first St. Anne's and his grave has vanished without a trace.
